MacArthur Boulevard

• During the 2004 hurricane season, due to damage to MacArthur Blvd., CAPTEC completed emergency design, permitting and CEI services for a major access roadway on South Hutchinson Island that provides access to 400 residents. Under emergency conditions, CAPTEC designed 6,300 feet of:  roadway, water, sewer, drainage and dune restoration improvements.

• CAPTEC and the contractor completed 24-hour construction/CEI efforts during the majority of this project to maintain County schedules, resulting in completion of the project within the expedited timeline & budget.

• CAPTEC maintained a communication system with the residents and assisted Martin County staff in providing a ferry service during construction operations. Extensive coordination was provided with the residents and their hurricane recovery contractors to maintain access.

• The project required replacement of an existing water main for service during construction then new installation of a 12” water main and 8” force main for approximately 54 residents that lost use of their septic tank system. CAPTEC designed a major steel sheet pile wall on 2 sides of the road to provide reinforcement of the 2 lane roadway that provided access to:  County beaches, The House of Refuge Historical Museum, and the Sailfish Point subdivision. The project included beach re-nourishment of 5400 l.f. of beach, Indian mound permitting and The House of Refuge seawall reconstruction.
